2023年夏天，“村超”以意想不到的方式闯入全国公众视野。没有职业球员，没有商业冠名，甚至没有标准草坪，这场“草根”足球赛事凭借纯粹的足球热情和浓厚的乡土气息，在短短数月内火爆“出圈”，平均每场比赛现场观众超过5万人，线上直播观众超过5000万人次，让榕江这座小城一跃成为“网红”旅游目的地。
In the summer of 2023, the Village Super League burst into the national spotlight in a way few could have anticipated. With no professional players, no commercial sponsors, and not even a standard grass pitch, this grassroots football tournament relied on pure passion and a strong rural spirit to go viral within just a few months. Average attendance exceeded 50,000 spectators per match, while online livestream views surpassed 50 million. Almost overnight, Rongjiang County was transformed into a trending tourist destination.
然而，一夜爆红并非偶然。榕江与足球的渊源可以追溯到1944年。彼时，广西大学迁入榕江，将足球运动带到苗乡侗水。此后数十年间，足球在榕江从校园萌芽到遍地开花，村民们在河边建起露天球场，开启了最早的“村超”时代。可以说，“村超”的热闹，是一代代榕江人用时间和热情铺垫出来的。
Yet its sudden rise to fame was no accident. Football in Rongjiang County dates back to 1944, when Guangxi University relocated there during wartime, introducing the sport to the region and planting the first seeds of what would become a lasting local passion. In the decades that followed, football took root and flourished, spreading from school campuses to villages across the county. Residents built open-air pitches along riverbanks, ushering in the earliest days of what would later become the Village Super League. The excitement surrounding the Village Super League today is the result of generations of dedication and enthusiasm.

When this grassroots tournament met the internet era, it unleashed extraordinary communicative power. As its influence continued to grow, the once-local competition began stepping onto a broader stage.

In 2023, a grassroots coaching initiative was launched in Rongjiang, marking the start of substantive cooperation between the Village Super League and the Premier League.

同年5月，巴西传奇球星卡卡空降“村超”赛场，引得现场球迷与游客发出阵阵掌声和欢呼声。4个月后，来自全球15个国家的7位驻华大使和24位驻华外交官来到“村超”，与榕江当地球队同场竞技。
In May of the same year, Brazilian football legend Kaka made a surprise appearance at the Village Super League, drawing waves of applause and cheers from fans and visitors. Four months later, seven ambassadors and 24 diplomats from 15 countries stationed in China traveled to Rongjiang and competed alongside local village teams, turning the pitch into a lively arena of people-to-people exchange.
“这里的人们为足球而疯狂，这是我从未见过的景象。”秘鲁驻华大使馆二等秘书伊万·特洛感慨，他希望有朝一日看到榕江成为培养中国职业足球运动人才的摇篮。
“People here are crazy about football. I have never seen anything like it,”said Ivan Tello, Second Secretary of the Embassy of Peru in China. He expressed hope that Rongjiang could one day become a cradle for cultivating professional football talent in China.
截至2025年11月，“村超”吸引了来自法国、巴西、阿根廷等52个国家和地区的1200余名球员前来交流；“村超”全网浏览量突破1300亿次，英国BBC、新加坡《海峡时报》等多家海外媒体持续报道，将中国乡村的足球文化带向全球。
By November 2025, the Village Super League had attracted more than 1,200 players from 52 countries and regions, including France, Brazil, and Argentina. Online views across platforms surpassed 130 billion. International media outlets such as the BBC and The Straits Times reported extensively on the phenomenon, introducing China’s rural football culture to a global audience.

赛事“出海”，也带来了实实在在的变化。2025年，榕江接待游客1038.68万人次，同比增长9.8%；旅游综合收入118亿元，同比增长9.2%。绿茵场上的奔跑，跑出了乡村振兴的加速度。
As the tournament went global, tangible changes followed. In 2025, Rongjiang received 10.3868 million tourist visits, up 9.8 percent year on year, while total tourism revenue reached 11.8 billion yuan, an increase of 9.2 percent. The running and cheering on the football pitch have translated into fresh momentum for rural revitalization.
“我能感受到榕江人对‘村超’的主人翁意识，在这里我看到了一种前所未有的团结与力量。”来自智利的大学生Diego Urcelay表示，很多时候，谈起减贫，人们往往想到的是冷冰冰的数据。却忘了，贫困的背后是一个个有故事的人、鲜活的人。“榕江是独一无二的。它在很好地传承保护千百年历史传统的同时，又能在短时间内取得巨大的进步与发展，这非常惊人。”
“I can feel the strong sense of ownership that the people of Rongjiang have toward the Village Super League. Here, I see an unprecedented sense of unity and strength,” said Diego Urcelay, a university student from Chile. He noted that discussions about poverty reduction often focus on statistics, overlooking the real people behind the numbers.“Rongjiang is unique. It preserves centuries-old traditions while achieving remarkable progress and development in a short period of time. That is truly impressive.”
2025年初，拉美青年走进贵州榕江寻找乡村减贫与振兴的密码。
今年春节，第四届“村超”预选赛如约而至，参赛球队从首届的20支增至137支。从泥土球场到世界舞台，“村超”正在书写属于中国乡村的足球传奇。
This Spring Festival, the fourth Village Super League qualifying tournament took place as scheduled, with participating teams increasing from 20 in the inaugural edition to 137. From dirt fields to the world stage, the Village Super League is writing a football legend of China’s countryside.
2026年第四届贵州“村超”开幕式
沿着“三步走”战略，榕江将目光投向更远的未来。2028年，第一届“村超”世界杯将在这片土地上拉开帷幕。届时，泥土里长出的足球梦，将真正长成一棵枝繁叶茂的世界树。
Guided by the“three-step” development strategy, Rongjiang is now looking even further ahead. In 2028, the first Village Super League World Cup will kick off on this very soil. By then, the football dream that rose from the dirt will have grown into a flourishing tree with branches reaching across the world.
